School Games Information

School Games

The School Games is the new initiative for School Sport Competition.  The School Games is split into 4 levels:

Sedgefield School Games (Level 1 and 2)

Level 1

To take an active part in the School Games we would like schools to:

Register Here - https://www.yourschoolgames.com/RegisterYourSchool.aspx

  • to deliver a year round multi sport programme in school (Intra school competition) that is designed by your pupils and experienced by as many as possible.

Examples of level 1 events could include:

  • Dance/Gymnastics show in school where classes show their routines to rest of school.
  • Whole school Quad Kids
  • Termly intra form/house sport competitions
  • to deliver a school games day that is a culmination of your year round programme.
  • to use the School Games across the curriculum by introducing roles like:
    • Young Reporter
    • Young Announcer
    • Young Photographer
    • Young Commentator
    • Young Statistician
    • Young Artist
    • Young Musician
  • promote the Olympic and Paralympic Values
In summary:  Use this exciting year for sport to engage as many young people as possible in school sport!

Level 2

Level 2 is all the Competitions and Festivals that are organised by the School Sport Partnership.  See the website page for the 2011/12 Wear Valley & Teesdale School Games Calendar.  A number of these events will be qualifiers for the Level 3 event. We will let you know which ones they are when they have been decided!

Level 3

Level 3 is a County wide Olympic style multi sport festival that will be organised by a LOC (Local Organising Committee).  This event will be really exciting and inspiring!  It will consist of teams that have qualified from each SSP in County Durham in the sports selected by the Committee.

Level 4

Level 4 is a National Event where regional teams are selected through National Governing Body Pathways to compete against each other at the Olympic Park!  Please note: Level 3 and Level 4 are not linked.  If your school is successful in winning the Level 3 event you will not then go onto compete in the National Event.
