KS2 District Athletics Trials, Weds 9th June 2010

A fantastic number of individual performances were displayed at this year's KS2 District Athletics Trials despite a grey, damp morning at Shildon Athletics track.  The event provided the opportunity for schools to identify their talented track and field athletes and allow them to compete against pupils from other Partnership schools for a place at the County Athletics Final being held on Friday 2nd July 2010.

Over 150 pupils made the journey to Shildon with a variety of teachers, parents, family and friends supporting and encouraging them to perform to their individual best in their chosen event.  Dramatic heats were held in each of the short distance track events, where a place in the finals was the prize for the highest placed finishers.  Strong fields had been entered into the 800m runs and every field event, where competitors were given three attempts to achieve their best result.

When all the results had been calculated, the two top placed competitors in each event received an invitation to represent Wear Valley & Teesdale School Sport Partnership and together they will compete against the 5 other SSP teams within County Durham.  We wish our team the very best of luck at the County Final.
