A Leadership Academy is in essence a ‘Leadership Club’ designed to provide high quality, regular support, training and development for young people that are committed to actively volunteering within their school and/or community setting in order to develop and grow them as young people and as leaders and volunteers. Leadership Academies were developed so that the School Sport Partnership could develop suitable pathways which give all young people the opportunity to learn, enrich, extend and enable Leadership Skills from KS3-KS5 (11 -19yrs) and where appropriate this should build upon the growing Leadership Skills in KS1 and KS2.
2008 saw the launch of the Wear Valley and Teesdale School Sport Partnership Leadership Academy. Our Academy is focused at young people aged between 14 -19 years and hopes to develop their leadership skills and support them in being deployed into a wide range of opportunities. We currently have over 100 active members who lead and volunteer within their schools or local communities.
